2.4.1 GT-HE version additional setting options
To enable the options
described here the GT-HE
is provided with an extra
screen allowing the user
to choose number of Earth
Fault options. This screen
and the subsequent
setting screens replace
the equivalent GF sum &
GF CT screens.
2.4.1.1 UEF (Unrestricted Earth Fault)
The
UEF
option makes uses of the Ground Fault
sum. (Gfsum) principle.
When the Trip Unit is set to one of the options
indicating
UEF
both the current and time setting
range are identical to the Gfsum. ranges as
mentioned in section 2.2.3 of this manual.
Normally an OFF position is also provided.
However when used in combination with REF
and /or SEF this OFF is disabled.
2.4.1.2 SEF (Standby Earth Fault)
The
SEF
option makes use of the Ground Fault
current transformer (Gfct) principle. When the
Trip Unit is set to one of the options indicating
SEF
both the current and time setting range are
identical to the Gfct. ranges as mentioned in
section 2.2.3 of this manual.
When BOTH
UEF & SEF
are present and enabled
the SEF device cannot be set to a time lower
than that of the UEF s 0.1second or a
current setting lower than that of UEF.

2.4.1.3
REF (Restricted Earth Fault)
The
REF
option makes use of the Ground Fault
current transformer (Gfct) principle. It is
programmed to use a differential in which the
current flowing to earth, measured by the CT is
compared to the vectorial sum of the current
flowing in the 3 phase lines or 3 phase plus
neutral lines measured by the breakers
Rogowski coils.
When the Trip Unit is set to an option indicating
REF
the current setting range is identical to the
GFct. range as mentioned n section 2.2.3 of
this manual. There is no time setting, only
Instantaneous being available. (60milliseconds).
2.4.1.4 Hardware Requirements
- EntelliGuard ACB plus GTU H trip unit type E
with the UEF, SEF & REF option installed.
AND
- Sensors in accordance with the chosen
options, breaker & network See below)
- A 24 V DC power supply.
Remarks
When the Rogowski sensor is mounted
externally it must be located downstream of the
Earth and Neutral connection. It needs to
capture the full neutral current)
It must be located in the direct vicinity of the
breaker (+10meters) with the current flowing in
the same direction as that in the breaker
sensors.
The Earth Leg Current Transformer must be
installed in the neutral to Earth link of the
installation and connected with 1 or 1.5 mm²
wiring. The distance to the breaker must be <=50
meters. The interposing CT is always supplied
breaker mounted.
Before connecting a Rogowski or Current
transformer REMOVE the existing link.
(Present to prevent issues when the terminals
are not in use)

These options are available on the
following trip unit types..
In all the above mentioned types the RELT option/ function can be disabled allowing the assignment of Relay
Output & Input one for other uses.
The Electronic trip units of the GT-HE series provide
long-time over-current protection (LT),
long-time delay (tr),
Short Circuit over-current protection (SD and/or I,
HI) and EarthFault Protection (GFsum & GFct).
This part of User guide covers the uses of
GFsum & GFct in the Unrestricted, Restricted and
Standby Earthfault (UEF, REF& SEF) applications.
To use the Trip Unit variants listed above and
described and elsewhere in this document the use
of a GE approved 24 VDC power supply required.
All mentioned factory mounted trip Units are
supplied with a breaker mounted Interposing CT.
