6.2.1.10 Broadcom Switch Configuration

6.2.1.10.1 bcm Command

U-boot provides the Broadcom MDK, which is a stripped down version of the SDK. It is accessed
using the "bcm" command.

To enter the MDK shell, use "bcm shell". To enter a shell command and immediately return to u-
boot, use "bcm <shell-command>".

Important commands:

z

"help" - global help or "help <command>" for command help

z

"portmode" - displays/changes the current port configuration. The syntax is "portmode
<portspec> <command>. <portspec> is a port (number), port range (<p1>-<p2>) or a
comma separated port list (or "all" for all ports).

"update" - updates the port status. Has to be done twice before the actual port status
is displayed correctly. Example:

portmode all update

—

"auto" - to configure auto-negotiation

—

"<speed-ID>" - to configure to a fixed speed. All modes can be listed by just typing
"portmode"

z

"swinit" - reconfigures the switch to L2 switching. Otherwise all packets are dropped.

z

"vlan" - defines and configures VLANs, "pvlan" configures the port default VLANs

z

"get l2xm nz" - dumps the L2 table

z

"stat" - shows port counters
