Chapter 3 – Maintenance
Accessing the Interior of the Output Device
Regular maintenance and troubleshooting require access to some internal
areas of the output device.
The following sections describe how to access these areas.
Figure 17: Output device access panels
The top-hinged front panel and right-end panel provide operator access to
the interior of the output device. The right-end access panel must be lifted
off the output device and put back on afterward. The rear and left-end
access panels should only be removed by a service representative.
DANGER: Do NOT open or remove any access panel while the output
device is imaging a medium. Be sure that there is no mechanical
movement within the output device before reaching inside.

Note:
Opening or removing access panels will turn off power to the laser. It
takes up to five minutes for the laser to warm up again after the panels are closed
or replaced. You cannot image media while the laser is warming up.
CAUTION:
Opening access panels is unavoidable, but should be kept to a
minimum to reduce the accumulation of dust in and around sensitive
components.
