Section
3
If any other door, the tailgate or
the hood is opened without using
the remote keyless entry transmit-
ter to unlock the vehicle, the full
alarm will activate.
The horn will sound and the
headlights will flash for up to
30 seconds.
The alarm will then turn off to
preserve battery power.
To avoid triggering the alarm, you
must unlock a door with the
Keyless Entry system.
If the alarm is set off by accident,
you can shut it off by pressing the
unlock button on the remote
keyless entry transmitter or by
starting the vehicle.
To test the system, lock the doors
using the remote keyless entry
transmitter from inside the vehicle.
Wait for the Security System Light
to turn off. Then, unlock the driv-
er’s door using the manual lock
lever. Open the door.
The pre-alarm should sound.
Wait ten seconds for the full alarm
to activate.
To turn the alarm off, press the
unlock button on the keyless entry
transmitter or start the engine.
If the horn does not work, the horn
fuse may be blown.
If the problem is fuse-related,
see "Fuses and Circuit Breakers" in
Section 4 for additional informa-
tion.
If the alarm still does not sound or
the headlights do not flash, see
your dealer for service.
Note: The power door lock switch
will not work to unlock the vehicle
when the theft deterrent system is
armed.
