Safety Belt Extension
If the safety belt is not long
enough to fasten around you, your
dealer will order you an extender.
When you go in to order it, take
the heaviest coat you will wear, so
the extender will be long enough
for you.
Use the extender only for the
seat it is made to fit. Do not let
someone else use the extender. To
wear it, just attach it to the regular
safety belt.
Follow the manufacturer's instruc-
tions.
Never use a belt extender when
securing a child restraint.
Safety Belt Care
Keep the safety belts clean and
dry.
CAUTION
Do not bleach or dye safety
belts. It may severely weaken
them. In a crash, they might
not be able to provide
adequate protection. Clean
safety belts only with mild soap
and lukewarm water.
Replacing Safety Belts
CAUTION
A crash can damage the
restraint systems so that
they do not provide proper
protection. This could result in
serious injury or even death in a
collision. To help make sure
your restraint systems are
working properly after a crash,
have them inspected and
replaced, as necessary, as soon
as possible.
If you have been in a collision
where the belts may have been
stretched, or if the safety belt is cut
or damaged, the belt needs to
be replaced. Repairs may be
necessary even if the safety belt
was not used at the time of the
collision. Have the restraint system
inspected after a collision.
