PIN Codes...
The operating programs
in the Spectrum
TM
queuing console may be set up to
require personal identifi cation, or PIN, codes to limit
authority to use procedures, and to associate particular
users with system transactions. Specifi cally:
Condition A, Power Up:
PIN code entry is required when
the console is powered up, typically each morning, before
any further procedures are allowed.
Condition B, Management Routines:
PIN code entry is
required when the console operator uses any management
or setup procedures, PAGES 32-48, which are always
accessed with the 3-keys (“NEW” + “ENTER” + “STATUS”)
step.
Condition C, Dispense Jobs:
PIN code entry is required
when the console operator authorizes a new dispense job
using the “NEW DISPENSE JOB” routine,
[procedure
BP2, page 28]
.
Confi guration Choices...
The Spectrum
TM
system
allows the user to select one of 4 levels of PIN code
protection and to store up to 32 “Operator” PIN codes
in memory and up to 5 additional “Management” PIN
codes. These 4 levels of protection are applied in
the following way:
Confi guration Level 1, No Protection:
PIN code entry
and use is bypassed for all operating procedures. No user
number is associated with job transaction data.
Configuration Level 2, Maximum Protection, Dual
Authority Levels:
System PIN protection barriers and PIN
entry steps are used for Conditions A, B and C. Operator PIN
codes allow Condition C authorization only. Management
PIN codes allow console use under all conditions. User
numbers are associated with job transaction data and
printed on job ticket reports.
Confi guration Level 3, Maximum Protection, Uniform
Authority Level:
System PIN protection barriers and
PIN entry steps are used for Conditions A,B and C. Both
Operator and Management PIN codes allow console use
under all conditions. User numbers are associated with job
transaction data and printed on job ticket reports.
Configuration Level 4, Limited Protection:
System
PIN protection barriers and PIN entry steps are used for
Conditions A and B only. Operator PIN codes allow product
start-up (
Condition A)
only. Management PIN codes allow
product start-up (
Condition A)
and use of all management
(“3-KEYS”) program subroutines (
Condition B)
. No PIN
number is required for individual dispense jobs. User
numbers are associated with job transaction data and
printed on job ticket reports.
Setting up PIN Code Protection...

procedure, “PROCEDURES: PIN Entry/Revision”
[Procedure BP9, page 35]
to set up the preferred Pin

“Y” = PIN code level required to authorize or use
It is highly recommended that PIN code
identifi cation be set up and utilized in all
Spectrum

installations. This assures
the full protection against fluid theft
or mis-use which has been provided
in the product design. DO NOT LOSE
YOUR CODES. Restoring operation to
a protected system if codes are lost
may require a lengthy procedure.
