Diagnostic:
Error Codes and Messsages
Error Message and Code:
“Code 35”
“Electrical Open Circuit to Valve”
Interpretation:
The Smart Controller reports a wiring
or coil open circuit associated with
a port at the station indicated in the
message.
Step 1:
Go to the Smart Controller at the
identifi ed station. At that location,
apply procedure “Verification of
Solenoid Valve and Port Wiring”
[Procedure RP10, page 61].
Step 2:
At the console, apply procedure
“Verifying that Inactive SC Ports are
Turned OFF”
[Procedure RP11, page
62].
Step 3:
Restart the system. If fault message
35 repeats, locate the station identi-
fi ed in the message. Determine which
fl uid was being dispensed at the time
of error. Then replace that solenoid
valve using procedure “Replace
Model 3120-032 Air Solenoid Valve...”,
[Procedure RP3, page 58].
Step 4:
Restart the system. If fault message
35 repeats, apply procedure “Replace
Model 3120-030 Smart Controller”,
[Procedure RP5, page 59]. Note:
This error is almost always a wiring
problem, not a defective device.
Error Message and Code:
“Code 36”
“Remote SC Framing Error”
Interpretation:
The console received a garbled data
message from the specifi ed Smart
Controller. This fault may be caused
by transient electrical noise.
Step 1:
Apply Procedure “Assuring a Suit-
able System Power Supply”,
[Proce-
dure RP18, page 65].
Restart the
system. Disregard error message 36
unless it repeats once more.
Step 2:
Complete the Procedure: “Verifi-
cation of Communication/Power
Wiring”
[Procedure RP9, page 61]
Step 3:
Restore operation. If the error
repeats, then replace the SC using
Procedure: “Replace Model 3120-030
Smart Controller”
[Procedure RP5,
page 59]. Note:
this error is almost
always a wiring fault, not a bad Smart
Controller.
Error Message and Code:
“Code 37”
“Remote SC Illegal Command
”
Interpretation:
The identifi ed SC reports an inap-
propriate command form the console.
This fault may be caused by transient
electrical noise.
Step 1:
Apply Procedure “Assuring a Suit-
able System Power Supply”,
[Proce-
dure RP18, page 65].
Restart the
system. Disregard error message 36
unless it repeats once more.
Step 2:
Complete the Procedure: “Verifi-
cation of Communication/Power
Wiring”
[Procedure RP9, page 61]
Step 3:
Restore operation. If the error
repeats, then replace the SC using
Procedure: “Replace Model 3120-030
Smart Controller”
[Procedure RP5,
page 59]. Note:
this error is almost
always a wiring fault, not a bad Smart
Controller.
