Diagnostic:
Non-Fault Codes and Messsages
Error Message and Code:
“Code 30”
SC Message Time Out
Interpretation:
A dispense job instruction from the
console to a Smart Controller did
not echo back. The most likely cause
is a fault in the power/signal wiring
network.
Step 1:
Complete the Procedure: “Verifi-
cation of Communication/Power
Wiring”
[Procedure RP9, page 61]
Step 2:
Restore operation. If the error
r e p e a t s , t h e n r e p l a c e t h e S C
using Procedure: “Replace Model
3120-030 Smart Controller”
[Proce-
dure RP5, page 59].
Note: this error
is almost always a wiring fault, not
a bad Smart Controller.
Step 3:
If the error repeats after SC replace-
ment, then Complete the Procedure:
“Troubleshooting Smart Controller
Problems”
[Procedure RP12, page
62].

“Code 31”
Framing/Parity Error
Interpretation:
The console received a garbled data
message from the specifi ed Smart
Controller.
Step 1:
Complete the Procedure: “Verifi-
cation of Communication/Power

Step 2:
Restore operation. If the error

Printer Comm Error
Interpretation:
The console cannot transfer data to
an attached ticket printer.
Step 1:
If the printer power is off, immedi-
ately turn it ON. It may be necessary
to cycle console power to clear the
error.
Step 2:
If the printer is ON, check the printer
communications cable for imperfect
connection. If the cable is damaged,
replace the ticket printer.
Step 3:
If there is no attached ticket printer
in this system, complete procedure
SP4, selecting “not used” status
instead of “printer”.
