Replace Model 3120-030
Smart Controller:
1
This repair will temporarily interrupt Spectrum dis-
pense capability for approximately 1 hour. Set up
an alternate dispensing method for temporary use:
portable drums with hand pumps, bottled oil, etc.
2
At the queuing console, conclude or cancel all dis-
penses in queue. Then turn OFF the power switch
on the back of the console. Remove the power con-
nector from the back of the console for the duration
of the repair.
3
At the Smart controller to be repaired, disconnect
the 8 wire-end plugs from the controller and remove
the old controller from its mounting. On a sheet of
paper, make note of the smart controller number in
the system and the exact solenoid ports which are in
use on the card.
4
Mount the new smart controller in place, using
hardware provided in the controller packing box. If
needed, refer to “INSTALLATION DETAIL, SMART
CONTROLLER”,
[Figure 21, Page 16]
.
5
Transfer all wiring from old connector plugs to the
new ones supplied with the controller. Then attach
the new plugs to the smart controller card.
6
At the console, restore the power conector, turn
ON the power switch and allow the system to
complete a self-test cycle. This may result in an error
message, which should be ignored, because the new
smart controller is not yet initialized.
7
Set up the console program to recognize the new
smart controller by using the “PROCEDURES: SC
IDENTIFICATION”,
[Procedure SP3, Page 39]
. When
prompted “START WITH SC#:?” and “END WITH
SC#:?”, respond both times with the fl uid controller
number being replaced, using notes taken in step 3. Be
sure to include magnetic identifi cation of the new card
when prompted by the procedure. Continue through
procedure SP3 to its conclusion.
8
After installation of the new smart controller, confi rm
correct dispensing by authorizing a 1-qt sample
to EACH dispense point. Observe ready light, then
cancel each job.
9
Remove the alternate dispensing method for tem-
porary use prepared in step 1.
