Message:
Cannot read data from temporary file!
Cause:
File corruption occurred while you modified the group.
Solution:
Exit MasterDirectory, re-start MasterDirectory, and then try the procedure again.
Index Settings
This section describes the messages you might encounter while changing the index fields in a directory or
re-indexing a directory.
Message:
Index settings have been changed! Changing the setting will reindex the directory. Save the
changes?
Cause:
You changed the indexes.
Message:
Cannot create temporary index file! File may be locked by another user.
Cause:
You tried to reindex the directory when the directory was locked by another user.
Solution:
Try to reindex the directory later.
Opening an Existing Directory
This section describes the messages you might encounter when opening an existing directory.
Message:
Cannot open file! No master index found!
Cause:
You opened a directory that does not have a master index (production index). The file may not
be a MasterDirectory file, or the Index file is absent or corrupted.
Solution:
Verify that the index file is present. Otherwise, contact CCOM.
Message:
Cannot open index file XXXXXX!
Cause:
You opened a directory that does not have the correct index file. The file may not be a
MasterDirectory file, or the Index file is absent or corrupted.

Verify that the index file is present. Otherwise, contact CCOM.
Message:
Cannot lock directory!
Cause:
You tried to reindex the directory, and the directory was locked.
You tried to pack the directory and the directory was locked or has the wrong indexes.
Solution:
Reindex the file.
Packing the Directory
Message:
Cannot pack directory!
Cause:
Unknown error occurred (for example, the network drive disconnected).
Solution:
Try to pack the directory again.
