MasterDirectory User's Guide

Importing a Source File
Before you can import data into MasterDirectory, you must create and select at least one import map. (Refer
to "Creating Import Maps " and "Setting the Import Maps" earlier in this chapter.) The import map (*.imp)
determines what information MasterDirectory imports (for example, the source file and the specific fields).
With MasterDirectory, you can import data using the following methods:
•
"manual" import, in which you select the Import option from the Data Exchange menu and select the
import map(s) you want to use. The data is immediately imported into MasterDirectory. This procedure
is described below.
•
"scheduled" import, in which you specify the time of day when you want MasterDirectory to import the
data and the import map(s) you want to use. When the specified time of day arrives, MasterDirectory
automatically imports the data. This procedure is described in Chapter
7
.
•
"build," which combines the manual import and manual export procedures and immediately imports the
data into MasterDirectory and then immediately exports the data to the specified destination file(s).
Builds can also be scheduled. This procedure is described in Chapter
7
.
NOTE:
To import information from an ACP server via an IP connection, you must be able to log into the server via
the Avaya iClarity IP Audio application. (Avaya iClarity IP Audio will start automatically and prompt you
to log in when you attempt to import information from the ACP server.)
To import data into MasterDirectory:
1. From the Data Exchange menu, choose
Import
.
The Import Maps dialog box appears.
This dialog box shows the import maps you have created for this MasterDirectory file. By default, a
check mark appears next to each import map, indicating that the associated map will be run when you
perform an import.
2. Select the import map(s) you want to use. Only those import maps that have a check mark will be used.
If the import map you want to use is not listed, choose the
Add To List
button, and select the map(s)
you want to use.
