Chapter 6: Transferring Data

Running a Transfer Map
Before you can perform a transfer from MasterDirectory, you must create and select at least one transfer
map. (Refer to "Setting the Transfer Maps" and "Creating Transfer Maps" earlier in this chapter.) The
transfer map (*.trn) determines what files MasterDirectory transfers, receives, or copies.
With MasterDirectory, you can transfer files using the following methods:
•
manual transfer
, in which you select the Transfer option from the Data Exchange menu and select the
transfer map(s) you want to use. The data is immediately transferred, received, or copied. This
procedure is described below.
•
scheduled transfer
, in which you specify the time of day when you want MasterDirectory to transfer,
receive, or copy the file(s) and the transfer map(s) you want to use. When the specified time of day
arrives, MasterDirectory automatically transfers, receives, or copies the file(s). This procedure is
described in Chapter 7.
To perform a transfer:
1. On the toolbar, click the
Transfer Data
button.
The Transfer Maps dialog box appears.
This dialog box shows the transfer maps you have created for this MasterDirectory file. By default, a
check mark appears next to each transfer map, indicating that the associated map will be run when you
perform a transfer.
2. Select the transfer map(s) you want to use. Only those transfer maps that have a check mark will be
used. If the transfer map you want use is not listed, choose the
Add To List
button, select the map(s)
you want to use.
3. Choose the
Transfer
button.
The transfer is performed according to the settings specified in the transfer map(s) you selected.
When the transfer is complete, the following message box appears.
