SYSLOG
The Syslog is a standard for logging programming messages. It enables separation of the software that
generates messages from the system that stores the messages and the software that reports and
analyzes the messages; used for informational, analysis and debugging messages; and supported by a
wide variety of devices and receivers across multiple platforms.
3.5.1
Configuration
This section describes how to configure the system log.
To configure Syslog configuration in the web interface:
1. Navigate to System > Syslog > Configuration.
2. Specify the syslog mode and IP Address of the Syslog server(s).
3. Specify the Syslog level.

Parameter
Description
Server Mode
Indicates the server mode operation. When the mode operation is enabled, syslog
messages will be sent to the syslog server. The syslog protocol is based on UDP
and received on UDP port 514. Syslog packets will be sent out even if the syslog
server does not exist. Possible modes are:
Enabled: Enable server mode operation.
Disabled: Disable server mode operation.
Server Address 1
IPv4 address of syslog server. If the switch has DNS enabled, the host name can be
entered.
Server Address 2
IPv4 address of alternate syslog server. If the switch has DNS enabled, the host
name can be entered.
Syslog Level
Indicates what kind of messages will be sent to the syslog server. Possible levels
are: Debug, Info, Notice, Warning, Error, Critical, Alert, Emergency.
