Solution
Install "upper pickup modification kit", spare part number*: CM+3617030. It contains:
1. Modified latches which open and close the rollers for moving the film towards the
thermal head:
Reinforced holders for the axle.
More clearance for the axle which is moved by the latches
(before: ± 0.25 mm, now ± 1 mm).
2. Stronger springs at the upper pickup rollers. These springs define the friction
between rollers and film.
3. Software patch 1.9.1_C1 with optimized film pick-up timing
* The last digit in the spare part number indicates the spare part revision at release of
this document. When ordering, the actual revision of the spare part is delivered.
Symptom 2
When printing calibration films (Film calibration; Internal Densitometer Calibration;
Thermal Print Head Calibration) the printer makes a strange noise.
The noise depends on the type of Thermal Head (Kyocera / Toshiba) and the film
batch.
Cause
Resonances inside the printer, appearing sporadically at low density printing.
Solution
Software Patch 1.9.1_C1 has different calibration patterns implemented to avoid
sporadic resonances. Example for film calibration film see Figure 2.
