Create Correspondence Point
button, add a pair of points or two, then choose Calc, Apply, and
Color to see how the new mapping works.
Clear
The
Clear
button offers another way to remove the color applied to range data. Selecting Clear
removes all color from the file – even if several photos have been applied. This can be useful for
simply starting the color alignment process again. It does not remove the correspondence points
so it enables using the points you have, plus moving them or adding additional points. To
continue aligning the color photo you are working on, do not select
1:New
– simply start by
adding, deleting, or editing points and go on to
2:Calc
.
If you use clear after having aligned several photos, you can use the saved correspondence
groups to recreate the color mapping. Simply double click on a correspondence group (whose
name identifies both the range file and image file). This will bring you automatically to the
point in the color alignment process after ‘Apply’. You can either simply select the Color
button, or you can edit the points and do Calc, Apply, Color. You can proceed in this manner to
quickly recolor images – editing the correspondence points as necessary.
Adding More Photos
Having completed aligning one photo, adding the color to the range data, and saving the new
color range data file, you are ready to go on to the next photo – to continue the coloring of the
data (a 360 degree scan using 20% overlap when taking photos, typically requires 18 photos to
color it completely). The steps for doing this are almost identical to the steps for the first photo.
•
Select
1:New
. Choose your saved color range file (v1_color.rtpi) to base the alignment
on. Then choose the next color photo to align.
•
Choose correspondence points in the two windows.
•
Select
2:Calc
and check the size of the error.
•
Select
3:Apply
and check the location of the points.
•
Select
4:Color
and check the alignment of the color.
•
Save the color range file (you probably do not need to give it a new name) Revert if
necessary, before saving, to do a better mapping.
Continue in this manner until the file is completely colored.
Copy Correspondence Points
Sometimes correspondence points that were used to align one image with a range file can be
used to align an adjacent image. Rather than carefully selecting each point again, you can use
the Copy Correspondence Points function in the
Edit -> Align
menu to reuse the points already
selected.
After selecting New and identifying the range and image files to be aligned, select a
correspondence group from the
Correspondence Groups
folder in the Scene Tree. Then choose
Copy Correspondence Points
from the
Edit -> Align
menu. This will copy each point onto the
DeltaSphere-3000 3D Scene Digitizer
