On the left, the white space is for the
scene tree
. It is an organized list of all the different
data associated with the scene. Initially this is blank. The data is organized according to
types. The scene tree will be used frequently in this manual.
To the right of scene tree is the viewing window. When files are opened they will appear in
individual windows within this space.
Finally, in the bottom of the window is a status bar where information about the data
viewed will appear when data windows are open. This bar also displays ‘help’ information
about your mouse function.
Note that additional sections appear as data files are opened and functions are executed.
3.4.2
Creating Scenes from a Scan Session
When using the SceneVision Scan tab to control the DeltaSphere scanner, the program will
create a scene and automatically organize the files during a scan session. This is discussed in
detail in section 4.
3.4.3
Creating Scenes from a Single Data File
To load a single file into SceneVision, start the program. Then go to the File menu and select
Open File
. This will open a standard window browser from which you can choose an RTPI
(range) file, a model (VRML) file, or one of several kinds of image files. You can also ‘drag
and drop’ a file onto the SceneVision window.
Note: If you try to open an image file, the program will assign to this photo the
default ‘camera configuration file’. DeltaSphere-3000 cameras are
calibrated
and have associated configuration files (.cfg). This enables the mapping of
photos to the range data. Each camera/lens combination has its own
configuration file. Camera configuration files are discussed in section 10.
After loading the file, the SceneVision window might look like Figure 19 (you can find this file
in the SceneVision sample data whose default location is C:\deltasphere\data\sample\v1). The
name of the file we loaded was v1_color.rtpi – a range data file with color. You can see the
name in bold under
Range data
in the scene tree. Bold indicates that it is an open window in the
viewing section of SceneVision, on the right. If you look at the top of the scene tree you’ll see
v1_color_scene01,
the name of this scene file. SceneVision automatically creates a scene when
you load a file. An ‘*’ appears next to the name of the scene indicating that it has been modified
(or just created) and should be saved if desired. Saving scenes is described below. You can save
the scene with the given, default name or create a name of your own.
With a file loaded, you can use any SceneVision functions associated with its data type.
Viewing tools are described in section 7. Annotation and analysis tools are described in
section 8.
