8.1.2
Select and Move Annotation
You can select a landmark point after it has been created. There are several reasons to select an
annotation – to move it, to delete it, or to use it in another operation. To select an annotation,
pick
Annotations
from the Select menu or click on the arrow (
) in the Main toolbar. Then, for
landmark points, click on the point or on the point’s name in the scene tree. The point will
change color and its mark will get larger to indicate that it is selected.
Once it is selected you have several options. To move it, hold
Ctrl
and drag the point to the
desired location. To edit the annotation’s properties, double-click on the point or on its name in
the scene tree. To delete the selected annotation, hit
Delete
or
Ctrl
-
right-click
on the point, and
select
Delete Annotation
, or select
Delete Selected Object(s)
from the Edit menu. Selecting and
moving measure lines, described below, are very similar.
Note: When you move an annotation, its appearance in other windows will move
as well. If “dynamic annotation editing” is selected in the Preferences dialog box
(see Preferences in section 13.1) they all move at the same time. If not, the
corresponding annotations move when your action is completed.
8.1.3
Draw Measure Line
One of SceneVision’s most powerful capabilities is measuring the distance between any two
points in range data, model data, or even in aligned photo data. (See section 10 for information
on aligning photo data.) You can even do measurements between data points and points on
another annotation, e.g. a point on a drawn line or plane, or between points in two different
windows (if their data is aligned).
Begin by selecting
Draw Measure Line
from the Draw & Measure menu or the measure line
symbol (
) from the toolbar. Then, move the cursor to the first point of your measurement,
hold
Ctrl
(the cursor will change to a cross), and left click. Continue to hold
Ctrl
and as you
move the cursor a line will appear – drawn from your first point and following the cursor. When
you get to the end point you wish to chose, left click again.
Note: If you let go of
Ctrl
before clicking again the line will stop following your
cursor – but will not be complete. Then, if you hold down
Ctrl
again, it will pick
up where you left off and you can complete the measurement line. You can do
this to navigate in the window. For example, you might zoom in to one part of
the data and select a point. The other point you want might not be visible. You
can release
Ctrl
, move the viewpoint, and then hold
Ctrl
to select the second
point.
The length of this line (the ‘real world’ distance between the two points) will appear near the
middle of the line. If you double click on the line or on one of its endpoints, the Annotation
Properties window will appear with all of the same options as with landmark points. The label
for the line will also appear in the scene tree in the
Measure lines
folder.
To turn off the length of the line,
Ctrl
-
right click
on any part of the line, or on its name in the
scene tree, and select
Toggle Measure Line Distance Display
. (This will toggle the distance
