Dinital slide / Slide
Slide digitized witt a scanner microscope, for example Pannoramic SCAN. Consists of an
MRXS fle and a folder witt tte same name as tte MRXS fle.
Donor block
Tte donor block is a standard tssue block ttat may be from surgical pattology, autopsy,
or researct material.
Recipient block
Tte tssue cores are removed from tte donor and inserted into a “recipient” parafn
block.
Clone Block
A duplicate (triplicate, quadruplicate, etc.) of a recipient block witt identcal layout and
core order.
TMA
Tissue microarrays – Tte tssue microarray consists of an array of cylindrical cores of
parafn-embedded tssue ttat are removed from preexistng “donor” parafn blocks.
PCR
Polymerase Ctain Reacton, a bioctemical tectnology used for a variety of applicatons,
but tte primary aim of tte mettod is to exponentally amplify partcular DNA sequences.
