20.1.1 Make-Up Air (MUA) Style
The MUA style air handler has a constant speed
b lo w er that is designed to deli v er a constant v ol u me
of air to the heated space. This style air handler
s
u pplies 100% o u tside air to the heated space and is
not capa b le of s u pplying ret u rn air.
20.1.2 Volumatic Recirculatin g
The VR style air handler has a constant speed
b lo w er that is designed to deli v er a constant v ol u me
of air to the heated space. The standard control is
man
u al, w ith options a v aila b le to allo w for a bu ilding
press u re sensor is u sed to detect and control the
differential press u re b et w een the o u tside and the
heated space. The total v ol u me of air deli v ered b y
the air handler may at times consist of 0% to 80%
ret
u rn air.
20.1.3 Volumatic with VFD
The Vol u matic w ith VFD style air handler u ses
mod u lating discharge dampers to control o u tside air
deli v ered to the space (this style air handler does not
ret u rn any air from the bu ilding). Proper air v elocity /
press u re drop o v er the bu rner is maintained b y
a u tomatic mod u lating profile dampers. This style is
a v aila b le in t w o v ersions - T w o Position Vol u matic
and F u ll Vol u matic. The T w o Position Vol u matic
deli v ers 100% of the o u tside air and to a pre-selected
second v al u e of airflo w (operator determined) do w n
to 25% of the f u ll CFM rating of the air handler. F u ll
Vol u matic allo w s f u ll control of air flo w from 100%
do w n to 25% of the f u ll CFM rating of the air handler
or any w here in b et w een.
20.1.4 Autocycle Air Control
The A u tocycle Air Control adj u sts the positioning of
the discharge damper to control the v ol u me of air
discharged into the facility. The A u tocycle incl u des
u p to 12 pre-set positions adj u sted b y potentiometers
mo u nted on the printed circ u it b oard.
Each pre-set position is controlled b y an exha u st
fan interlock req u iring t w o w ires per interlock. The
installer m u st connect the t w o w ires b et w een the
printed circ u it b oard on the make- u p air u nit and the
a u xiliary contacts of the exha u st fans. the exha u st
fan starters m u st incl u de a u xiliary contacts.

20.2 Remote Panel Options
The remote panel sho u ld b e mo u nted in the
conditioned space in a con v enient location for
controlling the air handler. Do not locate a remote
panel
w hich contains temperat u re sensing controls in
an area that is directly affected b y this air handler or
another heat so u rce as it may interfere w ith the
operation of the air handler.
20.2.1 8 .3LS Remote Panel Dischar g e Air Tem-
perature Control (DAT)
The 8.3LS Remote Panel incl u des S u mmer/Off/
Winter s w itch and b lo w er, bu rner, and flame fail u re
indicators in a NEMA 1 style enclos u re and
discharge temperat u re set point.
Blo w er Indicator: Indicates the air handler is
s u pplying po w er to the main fan motor v ia the motor
controls.
B u rner Indicator: Indicates that the air handler has
s u pplied po w er to open the main f u el sh u t off v al v e.
