24.5 Gas Pipin g and Initial Pressure Settin g s
1. Perform a press u re test on all gas s u pply lines
to the air handler per applica b le codes.
Make sure to isolate all g as controls before
pressure testin g the system.
2. Verify s u pply press u re does not exceed maxi-
m u m rated gas press u re as stated on the rating
plate.
3. Set the s u pply gas press u re at the step do w n
reg u lator (normally o u tside of the enclos u re if
one is installed) according to the name plate
rating inlet gas press
u re specifications.
4. Only after performing steps 1-3 a b o v e, v erify
pilot press u re.
• Place a u -t ub e manometer or gas press u re
ga u ge on the tee at the do w nstream side of
the pilot press u re reg u lator. See Page 128,
Section 112 .
• Open the main gas v al v e and close the gas
v al v e do w nstream of the MR v al v e.
• Start the air handler in the w inter mode and
adj u st the pilot press u re reg u lator to 3.5 in
W.C. for nat u ral gas or 9 to 11 in W.C. for LPG.
• Verify that the bu rner flame control has a
flame signal of 5.0 to 10VDC.
5. Adj u st air handler high fire gas press u re.
• Force the bu rner into high fire. See Page 140,
Table 42 or See Page 125, Section 24.4.2.1
through Page 126, Section 24.4.2.2 . for the
specific amplifier and action req u ired to place
it into high fire mode.
• Open b oth man u al gas v al v es at the air
handler.
• Begin b y remo v ing high fire adj u stment cap,
see Page 129, Figure 113 , and rotating the
reg u lator adj u stment scre w . A clock w ise
rotation increases manifold press u re.
• For air handlers eq u ipped w ith less than 1
MBH gas trains, the high fire gas press u re is
set b y adj u sting the reg u lator u pstream of the
M611 v al v e. See Page 131, Figure 115 .
• Reconnect any w ires that w ere u sed for
adj u stment.
6. Lo w Fire Adj u stment
• NOTE: High fire gas press u re m u st b e set
BEFORE adj u sting lo w fire. There are three
critical items to consider b efore adj u sting lo w
fire:
A. Lo
w fire adj u stment does not reg u late gas
press u re.
B. If the lo w fire adj u stment scre w is set to
maxim u m, high fire reg u lation pro b lems w ill
occ u r.
C. The bu rner control system m u st b e forced
into lo w fire. See Page 151, Ta b le 42 or See
Page 136, Section 24.4.2.1 thro u gh Page 137,
Section 24.4.2.2. for the specific amplifier and
action req
u ired to place it into lo w fire mode.
• Lo w fire is set at the MR212 v al v e u sing the
adj u stment scre w u nder the lo w fire.
Adj u stment cap scre w (loosen locking scre w
b efore adj u stment), see Page 129, Figure 113
or on the M611 v al v e u sing the b rass adj u sting
scre w on the front side, see Page 128, Figure
112 . Rotate the adj u stment scre w u ntil there is
a contin u o u s b l u e ri bb on across the entire
bu rner. A co u nter clock w ise rotation increases
the flame size. Lo w fire temperat u re rise m u st
not exceed 12 °F (7 °C). Tighten locking scre w
w hen finished.
• Reconnect any w ires that w ere remo v ed for
adj u stment.
7. Once gas press u re and high/lo w fire adj u st-
ments are made, the gas set u p is completed.
All taps and instr u ments m u st b e remo v ed
and all caps and pl u gs m u st b e replaced.
