6.4.3

Aligning the light curtain transmitter and receiver

Mount the light curtain receiver and transmitter at the same height on opposing sides of
the fume hood opening. A small error in alignment is acceptable. The allowable error is
dependent on the spacing between the transmitter and receiver.

Figure 41 illustrates the maximum allowable transmitter to receiver misalignment /
displacement for a 0 to 3 m (0 to 118.11") range of fume hood widths. For a typical fume
hood width of 1 to 2 m (39.37 to 78.740"), the maximum allowable misalignment /
displacement ranges from approximately 20 to 40 mm (0.79 to 1.58").
