Simple searches
In its simplest form, a search string is a word or phrase contained
in the document or documents you want to search for.
For example, to find documents about scanning, you simply type:
scanning
To broaden the search, you can use the comma ( , ) as a separator.
For example, if you wanted to search for documents that
contained information about any computer device, you could type:
hard disk, scanner, printer, fax, CD-ROM
Another tool to use in search strings are
wild-card operators
:
*
?
For example:
pag*
matches all words with the prefix “pag”, such as “page”, “paging”,
“pagination”, “Pagis”, and so on.
pag?
matches only words that start with “pag” followed by only one
character, thus matching “page”.
Besides entering the search string on the Search Text tab, from
this dialog box you can check the last time a database was
updated; you can also update a database.
Once the search is done, you can click on a document in the found
list, then click the hyperlink in the Words column (blue
underlined text), to find the found text (hits) in that document.
When you double-click image documents in the found list, they
open in the Pagis Editor; text documents open in the Pagis
Document Viewer.
