3.2.2.2 Assembly of the stripper plate
The points mentioned in this chapter describe further key design features of the REA JET HR print
heads and stripper plates. The features described here apply to all REA JET HR print heads, print
head combinations and stripper plates, irrespective of whether single print head or multiple print
head. The joint characteristics described here will not be discussed again in the following chapters
for the assembly of stripper plates.
The stripper plates of the REA JET HR print heads are characterized by the following features.
Scope of delivery:
All REA JET HR stripper plates are provided with fastening screws for the installation to the print
head. Stripper plates for multiple print heads also include screws to connect the individual print
heads.
Guiding the product:
For clean guidance, the stripper plate must be in front of the print head. The surface of the stripper
plate has been subject to a special refining process (hardening) to protect the products and ensure
long service life. This is why the product must not have a distance to this stripper plate but can be
used for contact-based guidance of the product.
At the same time, the use of the stripper plate ensures that the nozzle plate of the cartridge and the
product are kept at a minimum distance of 0.5 mm. This prevents the clogging or damaging of the
nozzle plate. The recommended max. distance between the stripper plate and the product to be
printed should under no circumstances exceed 3 mm. 1.5 mm should not be exceeded when
printing 1D and 2D codes. The greater the distance, the lower the contour definition.

Protective milled edge:
To prevent the smudging of a fresh print, REA JET HR stripper plates are equipped with a milled
edge (1) after the print position. This milled edge corresponds to the print height of the cartridge,
extends over the straight surface of the outlet side of the stripper plate and is 0.5 mm deep. This
ensures that even ink types with longer drying periods render unsmudged printouts in high quality.
This can no longer be ensured for very small products (lower than
this protective edge) or strongly curved product surfaces. In such
cases, the particularly precise guidance of the product must be
ensured.
