1.9 Information on EU directives and CE marking
Term
Meaning
EU directives
The aim of the EU directives is to ensure the free movements of
goods within the EU and to provide EU-wide uniform standards. In
the case of products such as marking systems, EU directives have
defined essential requirements for these products. Safety
requirements are an important element of this. These directives
have to be implemented as national legislation by the EU Member
Status by a predefined deadline.
Technical details are defined in the harmonized standards. These
are e.g. the DIN-EN norms. If a product does not yet have an EN
norm, the existing national technical norms and regulations shall
continue to apply.
The requirements arising from the EU directives must be
observed/met by all manufacturers and dealers that distribute the
product in the Member States of the EU.
CE marking
With the declaration of conformity (or the manufacturer's
declaration) and CE marking of the product, the manufacturer
declares that their product corresponds with all relevant
requirements of EU directives. They may distribute and use the
product throughout the entire EU.

and amendments) applies to devices that may cause
electromagnetic interferences or whose operation may be impaired
as a result of these interferences.

The EU Low-Voltage Directive (2006/95/EC and amendments)
defines safety requirements for "electrical operating resources" to
safeguard against hazards that might arise from such devices.
