Chapter 3 - Using the Controls
961 Operations and Reference Manual Rev. D
Page 3-27
restores its previous brightness level. This function helps
maintain the integrity of the display screen and reduce power
consumption when the 961 is on for many hours at a time.
SAVE key
The
SAVE
key instantly saves your vessel’s position—at any
time, at any screen, during any function. For example, if you’re
editing data on the
NAVIGATION SETUP
screen when you
press the
SAVE
key, you’ll still obtain the
VESSEL POSITION
dialog box that always follows
SAVE
keypresses. Pressing the
SAVE
key temporarily saves your vessel’s position; at a later
time, you can rename this
*SAVEDXX*
waypoint so the 961
will permanently retain it. Pressing the
SAVE
key lets you save
a new waypoint (as a single waypoint or as multiple waypoints
in a route), or add your vessel’s position to the end of the pre-
viously designated route.
For more information about using the
SAVE
key, see ”Using
the save key” starting on page 4-15.
MOB key
Pressing the
MOB
key the first time instantly saves your posi-
tion as a Man Overboard (MOB
)
waypoint. The
MAN OVER-
BOARD
dialog box appears, and you now have five seconds to
press
CANCEL
if you accidentally pressed
MOB
. Unless you
press
CANCEL
,
the 961 automatically goes to the
CHART
screen (no matter what screen you were previously viewing),
and provides navigation directly to the MOB coordinates. Even
if you press
CANCEL
, the 961 still creates an MOB waypoint
on the
CHART
screen, although navigation to this point won’t
be provided.
