NO DGPS
This alarm means that DGPS corrections
are temporarily unavailable. You can dis-
able the entire DGPS system—see ”Set-
ting DGPS operation” starting on page
14-6, or you can just disable the
alarm—see ”Changing alarm settings”
starting on page 12-6.
Yes, but only after
receiving usable DGPS
signals.
If your 961 has no bea-
con board, to disable
this alarm you must turn
off the DGPS system
setting AND the DGPS
alarm setting.
NO BEACON STATUS
DATA
This alarm means there isn’t any commu-
nication from the beacon receiver.
Yes, but only after con-
dition clears.
GPS RECEIVER FAIL-
URE
This alarm means there’s a communica-
tion failure between the 961 and its inter-
nal GPS receiver.
Yes, but only after con-
dition clears.
TOO HOT, LIGHT LOW-
ERED
This alarm means that the 961 has
reduced the display brightness because of
excessive heat
Yes.
NO GPS FIX
or
GPS
ACQUIRING
(only after
power-up during initial GPS
acquisition)
This alarm means that the 961 isn’t receiv-
ing GPS position information. What
causes lack of position information? Noise
in the satellite signals, antenna problems,
travel under a bridge, and so on. If position
data is unavailable for more than three
seconds, GPS data (position, course, and
speed) is considered unknown. The GPS
position alarm then activates, and the 961
replaces the usual onscreen GPS data
with dashed lines. The
NO GPS FIX
alarm message appears, and the 961
replaces the symbol of your vessel with a
small position-fix circle.
Yes, but only after unit
receives GPS fix.
