Controls on the Device
1.4.1.
Switching On and Off
All Merk II is switched on and off at the rear of the device (see
Figure 12
).
After switching on and in rest mode the display (only available on the 2001/3001) shows
the start mask (see
Figure 4
).

Despite the 4 function keys which are explained in
chapter 1.2.1
, the Merk II has an LC
display on the front of the device with a resolution of 128 x 64 pixels, control keys arranged
in a ring and a 3-x-4 letter and number keyboard. The device can be controlled using these
elements. The key configuration is as follows:
0-9,#,*
Numbers 0-9 and letters if permitted (press respective key several times if
necessary);
For example, by repeatedly pressing the ‚2' key the sequence: ‚2' ‚A' ‚a' ‚B' ‚b' ‚C' ‚c'
‚2' etc. is generated)
Special Key Functions:
If a list containing several elements appears at the display, skip to the top of the list
by pressing “1”, or to the bottom by pressing “9”. Speed dialling by means of
abbreviated numbers is managed with the

Move the cursor to the left or the right;
In a list: move upwards or downwards;
Keys have an automatic repeat function; keeping one of the keys depressed moves
the cursor back and forth or up and down;
In a list: leave list without activating (cancel dialog, escape function);
In an entry to be changed with number or character: delete character on the cursor
