5.1.10. Set Time Limit (Timeout)
For particular transmission procedures (e.g. UDP) it is necessary to set a time limit.
To set the time limit, proceed as follows:
(a) Via the front panel:
•
Select the
SETUP
option in the Start mask (see
Figure 4
). The Setup mask appears.
•
Select
TIMEOUTS
and press
. The
TIMEOUTS
mask appears.

•
Select the appropriate parameter (“Disconnect” or “Stat. framing”) with the
and
keys and press the
key.
The time after which the MERK II should break off the connection attempt when no
synchronization (framing) is achieved is set with the “Disconnect” parameter. After this
time has expired the ISDN channel(s) are automatically cut off.
The parameter “Stat. framing” gives the time interval after which the G.722 decoder should
be started automatically in the case of a single channel ISDN connection if no other
procedure is recognized.
Both parameters are given in seconds.
•
Enter the desired values (seconds) with the number keys.
•
To save press
again.
•
Press the key to end.
(b) Via the remote control software:
•
Select
SETTINGS
OTHERS
. The following dialog window opens:

•
Enter the desired time limit under “G.722 stat. framing timeout” or “Disconnect timeout”.
G.722 stat. timeout shows how many seconds after the establishment of the connection
the MERK II switches to G.722 stat. framing if there is no synchronization. This value
should only be less than 15 seconds when the opposite end is definitely a device with
G.722 stat. framing.
•
To make the new values effective, click on “OK”.
