Special features for encoder / decoder settings with regard to dependency
and format in combination with devices from other manufacturers

Description

Format = Auto
MERK II default setting. The
MERK II always performs in
accordance with the remote
device with this setting. There
are a few exceptions to this rule
which are explained below.
Dependency = Remote
Format = CDQ/H.221
Bit rate =
384 kbit/s stereo
192 kbit/s mono
Dependency = Remote
Format = CDQ/H.221

192 kbit/s mono
CDQPrima
with
proprietary
H.221
When a CDQPrima calls a
MERK II, automatic remote
device recognition is functional
(format = auto). If, on the other
hand, a MERK II calls a
CDQPrima, the channel
connections are established too
quickly. The “Format =
CDQ/H.221” setting assures
that channel connections are
established one after the other.
Dependency = Local
Format depends upon
remote device
Dependency = Local
Format depends upon
remote device
Asymmetrical coding,
encoder settings identical to
remote device decoder settings,
decoder settings identical to
remote device encoder settings
Format = J.52
Dependency = Local
Contains other desired
parameters
J.52, but with fixed response
values:
J.52 normally negotiates the
highest possible standard
separately for each direction.
For example, a device also
accepts MPEG L3 at the re-
ceiver side (if technically fea-
sible), even if it uses MPEG L2
at the transmitter side.
However, if the settings
“Format = J.52” and
“Dependency = Local” have
been selected, the MERK II
alleges that it only understands
the decoder settings.
Dependency = Local
Format = J.52
Type = G.722
G.722 stat. framing:
G.722 stat. framing cannot be
recognized automatically,
because no in-band signaling
occurs. The MERK II normally
uses the G.722 stat. framing
timeout to this end
(recommended: 25 sec.). A
statistical audio signal must be
present for signal recognition
(not a sinusoidal tone!).
Dependency = Local
Bit rate = path cycle rate
X.21/V.35
