Set Inverse Multiplexer („Format“)
If a data stream is greater than the capacity of a transmission channel, it is then necessary
to use two or even more ISDN B channels to ensure delay-free transmission. The
transmitter must therefore split the data over the individual B channels and the receiver
must put them back together again properly after the transmission. In the context of MPEG
coded audio signals this procedure is often called inverse multiplexing (IMUX).
There are several different procedures for inverse multiplexing. The Merk II supports the
international standard J.52 and the proprietary procedures of various manufacturers.
If you know exactly which device is on the receiving end, you can pre-set this device at the
multiplexer. The Merk II ís however able to recognize the opposite station automatically
and set itselve accordingly.
