ETHERNET 2 & 3 (AES67/RAVENNA)
The
ETHERNET 2
and
ETHERNET 3
ports can be used to stream audio to and from an IP network using AES67
or RAVENNA.
The total Audio over IP capacity of one POWER CORE is up to 256 IO channels depending on the license
purchased. This can be split into up to 128 streams, where each stream can be mono, stereo or multi-channel.
For each stream you can decide whether it will be transmitted or received via the
ETHERNET 2
or
ETHERNET 3
port. To achieve redundant streaming, you must use both interfaces.
Network Requirements
The IP network
must
meet the qualifying requirements of an AES67/RAVENNA network. For details, please refer
to the separate "RAVENNA Networking Guide".
Making the Connection
Using a straight (1:1) STP-CAT 5 network cable with RJ45 connectors:
1.
Connect your AES67/RAVENNA network to the
ETHERNET 2
and/or
ETHERNET 3
ports of POWER
CORE.

MADI
The four
MADI
ports on the front panel, and any optional
MADI
on rear IO cards, can be used to connect multi-
channel digital audio to an external device.
Each port provides 64 bi-directional MADI (AES10) channels. Dual-redundant ports, and the number of
transmitted channels (56 or 64), can be defined by the ON-AIR Designer.
To use the
MADI
ports, you must fit a Lawo-certified SFP module. The SFP determines the connector and fibre
type: options include multi-mode and single-mode fibre. See
In the configuration, the following settings are defined by the
System -> Definition -> Parm = MADI
the 'Tree Definition':
·
Odd/even MADI ports may be configured as independent ports, or as redundant pairs (1/2, 3/4).
·
Each MADI port can be set to transmit 56 or 64 slots.

WCLK IN & OUT
WCLK IN
POWER CORE can sync to external wordclock by connecting the clock signal to
WCLK IN
and defining "sync
to wordclock" in the system configuration.
WCLK OUT
Wordclock out always provides an output of the current system reference: PTP, WCLK IN, MADI or internal
clock.
In both cases, connections are made using standard 75 ohm BNC connectors. The maximum cable length
depends on the equipment you are connecting to.
