If you have two tools already calibrated in C3, then reverse the signs and enter the same values in SCAL.
For example:
IMPORTANT:
If you have the units set to cm or mm in C3 then, when entering the calibrations into the
SCAL window above, you must add the units so that SCAL will convert to inches for you. For example, if
the
Units
setting in C3 is mm and your X offset calibration is 1.35, then you would enter: -1.35 mm

Normally, one would have the blade holder loaded on the left side and the alternate tool on the right. For this
reason, the right-side tool will usually be assigned as a
Pen
because pens, markers, embossers, engravers,
etc. do not have a blade offset. This is how the following example is set up.
•
A simple shape with vertical and horizontal lines works best for calibrating two tools. In this example, the
square from the
Basic Shapes
folder in the
Library
will be used.
•
After adding the shape to the
Cutting Mat
, increase the size to about 2” x 2” (~50 mm x 50 mm).
•
Select it and duplicate it using
Ctrl+C
and
Ctrl+Shift+V
(or
Edit>Copy
and
Edit>Paste in Place
). This will
ensure the duplicate is directly aligned with the original.
•
You should now only see one square on the
Cutting Mat
but see two different layers on the
Layer Bar
:
Tool offset
calibrations
In C3, the blade holder (left side) and embosser (right side)
were calibrated to have the following offsets, entered under
Settings>Machine Settings
:
These same values would be entered this way in SCAL, but with
a change in the signs. A negative number is changed to a positive
and a positive number is changed to a negative:
Enter the same
values but with a
change in the signs.
