10. Loosen the screws on the raw water intake pumps and allow water to drain into
the bilge.
11. Remove the condensate drain pans under all cooling/heating units and drain any
water. Wipe dry and replace the pans.
Battery System
Assuming the boat will be left in the water, you should do the following:
1. Remove the battery box covers and clean terminals with mixture of baking soda
and distilled water.
2. Check all terminal posts and connections.
3. Replace battery box covers.
4. Check all connections at the Battery Charger.
5. Check condition of battery and charger on all visits to the vessel during lay-up.
6. Turn ON the circuit breaker labeled ‘ INVERTER BATT CHARGER ’ on the
120/240V AC Distribution Panel No. 2. to ensure the house and engine start
batteries are maintained at full capacity and batteries won’t freeze.
Bilge System
The following winterizing procedure should be followed on each visit to the vessel:
1. Winterize all other systems first. Do bilges LAST .
2. Make sure all bilge discharge seacocks are OPEN .
3. Make sure all bilge pumps are operational and free of debris.
4. Make sure there is no residual or standing water around the bilge pumps.
5. Pour a small amount of nontoxic antifreeze (pink) into each bilge space.
6. Activate each pump just long enough to ensure anti-freeze mixture enters the
pump.
Bow Thruster
The biggest problem with the vessel left in the water will be growth buildup in the
thruster tunnel.
The following winterizing procedure should be followed:
1. Check the fluid level in the header tank. Specifically, ensure the level has not
dropped since last checked. This can be done at de-commissioning time by
marking, on the header tank, the level of fluid in the header tank for future
reference.
Digital Stabilizers
The Digital Stabilizers use the raw water from the propulsion engine for cooling, so when
the propulsion engine is winterized, the heat exchanger for the Digital Stabilizer will also
be winterized. The following winterizing procedure should be followed:
1. Turn OFF the circuit breaker labeled ‘ STABILIZERS’ on the 24V DC
NAV./COM. Electronics Panel.
