Krogen 58’ Manual, Hull 58014
Digital Stabilizers
65
Each locked yoke is mechanically held in the near center position by the spring loaded
pin until the fin is “Enabled” at the Pilothouse Touchscreen Panel. When each fin is
“Enabled”, the locking pin is hydraulically retracted and positioned to lock the fin the
next time the system is shut down.
If a fin should become disabled while underway and the fin’s yoke is not locked, one of
the following two procedures should be followed depending on the prevailing
circumstances:
1.
If the fin becomes disabled while the vessel is underway
Forward
, reduce speed
and perform repeated ‘S’ turns until the disabled fin’s yoke passes through the
center position to engage the spring loaded locking pin. The engaged position of
the yoke’s locking pin can be confirmed by visual inspection at the actuator.
2.
If the fin becomes disabled when the vessel in
NOT
underway Forward and the
yoke is not is a locked position, the yoke should be manually rotated until the
yoke notch engages with the spring loaded locking pin. To rotate a disabled fin,
you should do the following:
a.
Release pressure on the fin by turning off the system hydraulic pump or by
pressing “Restart” on the Touchscreen Panel.
b.
Using extreme caution
, inspect the disabled fin’s actuator to visualize the
bolted clamping split in the actuator’s yoke.
c.
Insert the flat blade of a stout 12” screwdriver into the yoke’s split and
apply steady pressure to rotate the yoke to the point where the spring
loaded locking pin engages.
Mechanically locked fins will be secured against out-of-range movement and forces, and
the vessel can be operated in any normal manner without concern for damage to the
locked fins.
In some cases, the vessel may be operated with one fin locked and one fin operating
normally. All normal operating procedures will apply to the “Enabled” fin.
CAUTION
DANGER!!! USE EXTREME CAUTION!!!
Unexpected and sudden yoke movement may occur.
Hazardous Pinch Points exist at the actuator assembly!!!
DO NOT place hands or fingers under or around the edges of the actuator top
plate.
DO NOT place hands or fingers between the actuator cylinder and the actuator
top plate
CAUTION
Use extreme caution when working or making inspection near the actuator
mechanism.
