Maintaining the
Workstation
The IX-6168-PS workstation requires certain maintenance procedures to keep it
working efficiently and safely.
General System Maintenance
Check the following items periodically, as required by the particular application and
work environment:
❑
Check all moving parts, such as switches and doors, to make sure they are not
loose.
❑
Check the pneumatic and vacuum filters for clogging.
❑
Check all ventilation filters for clogging, including any on the electronics
enclosures and laser enclosure.
❑
Clean the process area of processing debris, especially anything that can impede
stage motion.
❑
Check the beam delivery system optics for dust and pitting. Also check the optics
if there is a change in beam shape.
❑
If the system uses a water-cooled beam stop and power meter, check the water
flow.
❑
Maintain coolant levels in the laser’s chiller. Refer to the laser chiller manual.
❑
Maintain coolant levels in the scanner’s chiller. Refer to the scanner chiller manual.
Maintaining the Laser
Regular maintenance keeps a laser system in good working condition, preventing
downtime and extending the life of the laser. It is imperative to schedule regular
maintenance in spite of the interruption it may cause to production.
A laser log should be kept to record all maintenance procedures. The log helps to
troubleshoot current problems and anticipate future needs.
Refer to the documentation provided by the laser manufacturer for comprehensive
information about the laser and its maintenance.
