Motion Control and Digital I/O Electronics
Motion Control
The system controls stage motion through an interface card in the workstation’s
computer. Signals from the interface card control a motion-control amplifier, which in
turn controls the motor in a motion stage. Each motor controls one axis of motion. A
stage can have one axis of motion (as with the spindle stage) or two axes of motion (as
with the X-Y stage).

Computer Interface Cards
The system’s computer may have one or two Galil interface cards, depending on how
many axes of motion must be controlled in the system. The card comes in four models
for controlling 2, 4, 6, or 8 axes each.
