Beam Delivery

System

The IX-6168-PS workstation includes an assembly of tubes, mirrors, lenses, and other

components called the beam delivery system, or BDS. The BDS routes light from the

laser to the processing area and controls the shape, size, uniformity, and strength of

the beam. All the components of the BDS attach to the granite base and frame for

stability.
This chapter describes standard and optional components typically used in IPG

Photonics beam delivery systems.
