If no Power On Self Test (POST) screen is displayed:
1. Make sure that all cables are correctly connected, both on the display and the PC.
2. If this does not cure the problem, contact your HP service representative.
If the PC Does Not Work: No Error Messages
If the PC does not work, and there are no error messages, check the following:
1. Check the PC and display are turned ON. (The light next to the power switch should be
ON.)
2. The PC may be locked with Screen Blanking enabled. Enter the User Password.
3. Power Management may be enabled in Windows. Press any key.
4. Check the display's contrast and brightness settings.
5. Make sure that all cables and power cords are firmly plugged in.
6. Make sure the power outlet is working.
7. If the PC still does not work:
a. Turn OFF the display, the PC, and all external devices.
b. Unplug all power cords and cables, noting their positions.
c. Remove the cover. (Refer to “Installing Accessories” for details.)
d. Check the processor is correctly installed. (Refer to “Installing Accessories” for
details.)
e. Check that accessory boards are firmly seated in their slots. (Refer to “Installing
Accessories” for details.)
f. Verify that any switches and jumpers on the accessory boards are properly set.
(Refer to the manuals that came with each board.)
g. Check the switches on the system board are properly set. (Refer to “Troubleshooting
and Error Messages” for details.)
h. Replace the cover. (Refer to “Installing Accessories” for details.)
i. Connect all cables and power cords. (Refer to “Installing Accessories” for details.)
j. Turn ON the display and PC.
8. If the PC still does not work, remove all boards and accessories, except the hard disk
drive. Start the PC. If the PC now works, add the boards and accessories one at a time
to find out which one is causing the problem.
If the PC Does Not Work: Error Messages
If the following system ROM error message appears:
Cannot display error messages.
Flash ROM may be defective
Explanation:
The contents of the system ROM are corrupted or incomplete, you will need
to initialize the system ROM using the HPROMInit utility.
