Configuring the Ports
When you first use your PC, its ports are set as follows:
•
the 25-pin ECP/EPP bidirectional parallel port to Parallel 1
•
the parallel port mode to ECP bidirectional
•
the 9-pin serial port to Serial 1
You can change these settings if, for example, you have installed an accessory board that
needs to use the same IRQ as a port, or you want to switch the ports Off.
•
Set the parallel port to Parallel 1 (IRQ 7), Parallel 2 (IRQ 5), or Off.
•
Set the Parallel Port Mode to:
◊◊
Centronics® for transmitting data
◊◊
bidirectional ECP mode or bidirectional EPP mode for transmitting and receiving
data. If the device has an ECP/EPP interface, make sure you use a compatible
cable, order C2950A (IEEE 1284-B standard connector) or C2945A (IEEE 1284-C
small connector).
Make sure you choose a parallel mode compatible with your device. (Refer to your
device's manual for details.)
•
Set the serial port to Serial 1 (IRQ 4), Serial 2 (IRQ 3), Serial 3 (IRQ 4), Serial 4 (IRQ 3),
