Configuring the Matrox PCI Video Adapter Board:
Configure the Matrox video board, using the
HP User Tools
in Windows as follows:
1. Double-click on the
HP User Tools
icon, in the
HPutils
Group in Windows.
2. Click on the
Video Mode
button. A dialog box appears.
3. Click on the Display button, and select your HP display from the list. (Look on the back
of your display for product type information.)
4. Click on OK to verify your choice and follow the instructions on the screen.
5. A Windows restart dialog box appears. Click on Yes to restart Windows and confirm
your choice as the current display.
The type of display can also be set during the software initialization routine. If you need to
alter the video resolution, you can do this either by using
Video Mode
again and choosing
Graphics, or by double-clicking on the MGA Control Panel icon in the bottom left hand
corner of your display. Follow the instructions on the screen.
Using the Matrox Video Software Tools
The MGA Control Panel icon, in the bottom left-hand corner of your display, provides access
to the Matrox Video Software Tools.
The MGA Control Panel
Double-clicking on the
MGA Control Panel
icon allows you to:

change the display resolution and color depth
•
select large or small display fonts
•
make the Windows desktop area larger than the screen area
•
select zoom factors of x 2 and x 4.
The
MGA Control Panel
is automatically loaded when you run Windows. You should not
close it.
To run the
MGA Control Panel
, double-click on the minimized icon. You can control the
Display
,
Desktop
,
Colors
, and
Fonts
.

To reset all options to their default settings, double-click on
Defaults
.
•
To select a new screen resolution, use the
Display
section.
•
To select a different size Windows desktop area, allowing you to view parts of high
resolution displays, use the
Virtual Desktop
section.
•
To see part of the screen that is hidden from view, enable the
PixelTOUCH
section.
Then touch the edge of the screen with the cursor.
•
To select a different depth of color, use the
Colors
section. The
8-bit QCDP
driver
emulates 24-bit true color, but uses only 8-bits of color. This allows you to select more
resolutions than the 24-bit, 16.7 million colors Windows display driver allows.
