To access the utility, click on the
ShowSCSI
icon in the HPUtils group in Program
Manager.

Installing a Hard Disk Drive in the Rear Shelf
Your PC has an integrated Fast SCSI-2 controller for SCSI drives, and an integrated
Enhanced IDE controller for IDE drives.
When installing an IDE hard disk drive to a PC with a SCSI hard disk drive, refer to I
nstalling
IDE Devices
and
Installing SCSI Devices
.
For other devices, you may need to install a controller board. Refer to the device's manual
for any special installation procedure.
To install a hard disk drive in the rear shelf:
1. Remove the PC's cover, as described earlier in this chapter.
2. With the drive's label uppermost, place the drive on top of the power supply, towards the
back.
3. Align the drive with the hinges on the rear drive shelf. Then insert the drive into the
hinges.
4. Connect the power and data cables to the drive as shown in the following diagram.
Choose
either
the SCSI cable,
or
the IDE cable, according to the drive type. Make sure
that you connect to the socket indicated. (Refer to

and
Installing IDE Devices
, in this chapter.)
NOTE
The connectors are shaped to fit one way only.
