5–18 Compaq ES40CSLP Rackmount System Installation/User/Service Guide

5.16 System Card-Cage Fan Assembly

Perform the following procedure to remove the system card-cage fan assembly:

Extend the chassis for service (see Section 5.2).

Remove the top cover (see Section 5.4).

Loosen the two captive screws

along the top of the fan assembly (see Figure 5-15).

Lift the fan assembly straight up to disconnect the power connectors

on the bottom of

the chassis and lift the assembly out of the chassis (see Figure 5-15).

Remove the power connector

for the failing fan from the bottom of the fan assembly

bracket (see Figure 5-15).

Remove the four screws

and nuts that secure the failing fan to the fan assembly

bracket and remove the failing fan (see Figure 5-15).

To replace the failing fan and system card-cage fan assembly, refer to Figure 5-15 and reverse
steps 1 through 6 of the removal procedure.
