Removal and Replacement

5–20 Compaq ES40CSLP Rackmount System Installation/User/Service Guide

5.18 PCI Card-Cage Fan Assembly

Perform the following procedure to remove the PCI card-cage fan assembly:

Extend the chassis for service (see Section 5.2).

Remove the hard disk drive cover (see Section 5.9).

Loosen the two captive screws

that secure the top of the fan assembly to the chassis

(see Figure 5-17).

Pull the fan assembly straight up to disconnect the power connector

on the bottom of the

assembly (see Figure 5-17).

Remove the power connector

for the fan from the bottom of the fan assembly bracket

(see Figure 5-17).

Remove the four screws

and nuts that secure the fan to the fan assembly bracket and

remove the fan (see Figure 5-17).

To replace the PCI card-cage fan and fan assembly, refer to Figure 5-17 and reverse steps 1
through 6 of the removal procedure.
