CMT-130TC Book Trimmer

RAP 2.18 Cut Valve

Output 13

After the cut valve is energized, hydraulic fluid is
routed to the

“down” port of the cut cylinder.

The cut valve is located at the left-hand rear of
the manifold (Figure 2-21).

Possible Fault Indicators



Knife assembly will not move.



“Knife failed to leave up limit
in time”

message is displayed.



“Knife failed to leave down
limit in time”

message is displayed.



“Knife failed to reach down
limit in time”

message is displayed.



“Knife failed to reach up limit
in time”

message is displayed.

Initial Actions

Check for loose or damaged wire 85 at the elec-
trical panel.

Procedure

1. Perform RAP 2.46 Knife Down or RAP 2.44

Knife Up Sensor in accordance with the fault
message displayed at the console.

2. Does output LED 13 (GP 6.3 Input/Output

LEDs) switch on before the fault occurs?

Y N

Go to RAP 2.5 DC Power and check the 24
VDC power supply. Is the power supply
okay?

Y N

Disconnect power and repair the 24
VDC power supply.

Disconnect power and replace the main
PWB (REP 4.23 Main PWB Replacement).

3. Switch the main power OFF.

4. Short wire 85 to 74.

5. Place a Murr solenoid adapter (Figure 2-22)

between the Hirschmann connector and the
cut valve solenoid coil (Figure 2-21). Switch
the main power ON. Do the adapter's LEDs
switch on?

Y N

Go to GP 6.12 Hirschmann Connector. Was
there a loose or shorted wire in the con-
nector?

Y N

Check for loose or damaged wire 74 at
the electrical panel.

Check circuit breaker CB8.

6. Switch the main power OFF and remove the

cut valve solenoid from the valve (with the
cable connected).

7. Switch the main power ON. Insert the metal

end of a screwdriver into the cut valve sole-
noid. Does the solenoid attract the screw-
driver?

Y N

Disconnect power and replace the cut valve
solenoid (

PL 5.24 Hydraulic Power Unit

– 50Hz

59010-1).

8. Disconnect power and re-attach the cut

valve using a deep well socket.

9. Disconnect power and remove the short

placed between wires 85 and 74.
