Probe review and edit 

Up to 72 probes may be defined and stored by the CTR5000. Each probe number (1 to 72) can 
be entered or edited to define its conversion method, coefficients used, resistance and probe 
id string. Once defined, a probe may be assigned to a channel so that when this channel is 
selected, the probe’s data will be used. The probes are defined and reviewed using the menu 
system. 

For convenience, probes are divided into three groups. Each group has 24 probes - the 
grouping has no other significance. 

A probe id string (up to 10 characters long) may be given to each probe. Characters must be 
numeric when entered from the CTR5000 editor. However, alpha-numeric data can be 
entered through a data link (e.g. USB) using the 

N 

command (see the communications 

section). The id string can be reviewed or edited (numerical characters only) on the CTR5000. 
The string will be reproduced on a probe report.

This menu is used to select and edit probes.

The first menu option allows a probe to be selected by number via the numeric keypad. The 
remainder of the menu options allow probes to be selected from a group. Three groups of 24 
probes are selectable to make it easier to remember where any particular probe is. Finally, 
for convenience, all probes in a group may be set to have the same temperature conversion
