Input connections 

Two 5-pin DIN input sockets (channel A and channel B) are located on the front panel and up 
to four more sockets may be present on the back of the CTR5000 (channels C, D, E and F).   

Up to four expansion switchboxes may be attached to the instrument via the rear expansion 
port connector. Each switchbox has an additional 8 (model CTS5000-08) or 16 channels 
(model CTS5000-16), enabling between 2 to 70 channels to be used by the CTR5000.  

The selected input channel is interrogated before each measurement cycle, and when 
enabled, smart probes are identified by ‘

Smart

’ appearing at the top of the display. Open 

circuit thermometer input channels will display the open probe connector symbol shown 
below –

Passive

 probes do not contain any calibration information and the CTR5000 must be set-up 

with conversion data for each passive probe used. Up to 72 sets of passive probe information 
can be stored and retained by the CTR5000. Each available CTR5000 measurement-channel
