Place the laser safety cover with the glass insert (Fig. 3-4/

) on the incubator, inserting the two metal
pins into the holes on the rear side of the incubator and pressing the insert down until it slips on both
sides below the front carriers. To remove the cover, push the two locking levers (Fig. 3-4/

) sideward
and lift the cover obliquely frontward.
The distance between the upper laser safety interlocks (Fig. 3-4/
3
or Fig. 3-5/

) and the
condenser may be adjusted through the two oblong holes on the rear of the incubator. This is
necessary, for instance, if the incubator S TIRF S1/S TIRF DARK S1 does not release the laser
safety system when the transmitted light illumination carrier is tilted frontward and the cover is
positioned on the incubator. The distance between the interlocks and the condenser must be
adjusted in such a way that the laser switches off immediately if the transmitted light
illumination carrier is tilted backwards!

Connect the laser safety cable to the port

) of the incubator and to
the distribution box for laser safety.

Connect the cable of the temperature sensor
(Fig. 3-4/

) to the TempModul S1 (see also the
operating manual "Incubation on
Axio Observer").
•
Tilt the transmitted light illumination carrier
with the inserted condenser forward. In doing
so, adjust the central movable plate in the laser
safety cover (Fig. 3-6) in such a way that the
condenser (in Köhler position) is positioned in
the opening of the plate.
