6.8 Safety Check Prior to First Start-up
Prior to the first start-up and after every re-installation of the Laser TIRF imaging system, please
check the laser safety system for its ability to operate properly.
1. Turn on the microscope after installing and configuring all the components.
2. Deactivate the laser operation mode by pressing the laser control button (see Fig. 6-4/

on page 96)
on the laser operation remote control switch, by depressing the trigger button on the button ring of
the microscope or via the software (the
Active
LED on the TIRF slider laser and on the remote control
switch goes off).
3. Remove the microscope tube following the instructions of the operating manual for Axio Observer.Z1
(B 46-0111), in order to see the eyepiece shutter.
4. Close the laser safety cover.
5. Now, check the following items:
