Connecting the HXP 120 Illumination Unit
The HXP 120 illumination unit is connected by means of a coupling adapter, in which the optical
waveguide is firmly secured and aligned, to the reflected light illumination connector of the microscope.
The HXP interface (Safety kit for HXP 120 consisting of sensor ring and contact ring) is used to ensure
that the laser is operated safety.
The sensor ring and contact ring must not be removed from the microscope or from the coupling
connector, see Fig. 1-5 on page 16.

HXP connection
•
Switch off HXP 120.
•
Remove the protective cap (Fig. 5-5/
1
) from the sensor ring which is fastened to the illumination
connector.
•
Insert the coupling adapter (Fig. 5-5/
2
) with the firmly fastened contact ring to the limit in the sensor
ring on the illumination connector. Turn the coupling adapter until the pins of the contact ring can be
inserted into the contact openings of the sensor ring.
•
Secure the coupling adapter with its clamp screw (Fig. 5-5/
3
).
Simply unscrew the clamp screw (Fig. 5-5/
3
) to remove the coupling adapter.
The protective cap (Fig. 5-5/
1
) must be applied to the sensor ring on the illumination
connector so that the laser can work even if the HXP 120 is disconnected.
