General Precautions

WARNING:

When replacing consumables do NOT remove the covers or guards that are

fastened with screws. You cannot maintain or service any of the parts that are behind these

covers and guards. Do NOT attempt any maintenance procedure that is NOT specifically

described in the documentation supplied with your device.

Replacing the Transfer Roller

A Low Supply Warning message may appear on the control panel when the transfer roller is nearing end

of life.

If ghosting appears in printed output, check the percentage of remaining life for the transfer roller.

Replace the transfer roller when the percentage of remaining life is less than 20 percent. For details, refer

to

Supply Status

on page 201.

Note:

Each transfer roller includes installation instructions.

To replace the transfer roller:
1.

Power off the printer, then disconnect the power cord from the printer.

2.

Remove any paper from Tray 5.

3.

Open the left side door of the printer.
